The GE ÄKTAexplorer (also sold as ÄKTA Explorer Air) is a chromatography (FPLC) system from GE Healthcare / Cytiva designed for purification of proteins, peptides and other biomolecules. It has been widely used in method and process development laboratories for over a decade. Its strength lies in its versatility (various chromatography modes), reliable operation, and flexible scaling (from low-flow analytical/ micro-preparative to higher-flow preparative applications). It supports modular add-ons (fraction collectors, sample pumps, etc.) and is controlled by the UNICORN software, which provides setup, method control, monitoring, and data handling.
