Beckman Airfuge Air Ultracentrifuge

Beckman Airfuge Air Ultracentrifuge
Product Specifications
BRAND  Beckman Coulter
MODEL  Airfuge
DESCRIPTION
The Beckman Coulter Airfuge is an air-driven ultracentrifuge that reaches speeds up to 110,000 rpm (rotations per minutes) and accelerates to high speeds within 30 seconds. This unit does not employ vacuum or high-speed bearings, and the rotor is supplied and driven by a pressurized air source. Rotor speed can be determined by conversion of the applied air pressure to rpm (compatible with a speed gauge instrument, not included). The Airfuge is also an exceptionally safe ultracentrifuge because the rotor is held in place by a pressure differential created by centrifugation, and its air pressure limitation of 35 psig (240 kPa) is factory set. The rotor also decelerates smoothly to keep the sample contents separated. The control panel of the Airfuge has a pressure regulator knob, pressure gauge, and a run light and has a polycarbonate coat finish. Other controls include a time-delay knob, brake tension screw and a levitation air screw. The inner chamber features a brass stator and houses an anodized aluminum rotor with turbine flutes that hold six microtubes at a 18 degree fixed angle from the axis of rotation.
