A variety of safety features are standard on the Model 5000I/R shaker. A built-in load sensor detects unbalanced conditions and reduces rpm or stops the unit to protect samples. Audible and visual signals will activate if the system detects a tray obstruction or overload. To avoid sample loss, a ramping feature slowly increases speed to setpoint. In timed mode, an alarm will sound when the timer reaches the zero point. A polycarbonate lid permits viewing of samples without disturbing internal temperature and, when opened, an automatic shutoff circuit will stop the platform operation. Each unit's spill-resistant design protects internal components from accidental spills and leaks. Tray and rubber mat are removable to allow for easy chamber cleaning. A caution symbol will illuminate when air temperature in the chamber reaches 40°C (104°F). This symbol remains lit until the chamber temperature cools.
The touchpad control features easy-to-read, independent LEDs for temperature, time, and speed. An RS-232 interface provides two-way connection for data logging and unit control.
Precise temperature control is maintained by a PID controller, and the unit is driven by a triple eccentric drive. Permanently lubricated bearings and a maintenance-free brushless DC motor ensure reliable service and continuous duty operation. Shaker is equipped with the Accu-Drive™ shaking system, which delivers exceptional speed control, accuracy, and durability. The system continuously monitors shaking speed and maintains setpoint even under changing loads. The displayed speed is accurate to 1% of setting. The Opti-Flow ventilation system utilizes a powerful fan and air deflectors to deliver optimal temperature uniformity. Built-in temperature calibration mode and speed calibration mode allow users to calibrate temperature to an external device, or to automatically recalibrate the speed display.
