Features of neonatal monitors

The neonatal monitor’s electrodes will connect to the baby’s chest to track the vitals. These vital signs will display on a monitor with an easy to read screen so that the healthcare provider will always know the condition of the baby at a glance. In addition, they have alarms that will sound whenever something is amiss. If the heart rate or the breathing is suddenly too fast or too slow, the alarm will alert the care provider that something is wrong with the baby, so they can get the help they need quickly.

How neonatal monitors work

neonatal monitor rentalThe most common type of neonatal monitor is the cardiopulmonary monitor. The device uses electrodes and wires as a means to measure a number of different systems in the infant. The device connects to the baby through these electrodes and then checks the respiratory rate, the blood pressure, OZ saturation levels, heart rate, and more. Most of the models are wired, but some manufacturers are actually utilizing wireless technology for their monitors.

About neonatal monitors

You will usually find neonatal monitors used in the NICU, or the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of hospitals.
