Yard Truck Description

When you are choosing a yard truck to rent, make sure you are choosing a quality vehicle that has the features needed for your particular freight yard. If you have a large yard and you need to move multiple trailers throughout the day, you may find it advantageous to have more than one of these rentals.

Features of yard trucks

One of the great things about our trucks is that the operator is capable of moving the trailers without needing to get out of the cab or cranking any landing gear. They can put the trailer up easily while staying in the cab, and once they have moved the trailer to the new location, they can lower it to the ground, couple a fifth wheel, and take off. They can do all this without leaving the cab.

Just imagine how much time this would save compared to the way you are doing things now. Many have found that they can move three trailers while using a yard truck in the same amount of time that would take them to move one while using a standard vehicle.

How yard trucks work

When you first look at one of these trucks, you might be forgiven for thinking it looks like a regular road truck. However, there are quite a few differences. One of the major differences is that it is a single person cab only, and it is set to the side of the engine. There is a sliding rear door for easy access to the trailer connections if needed. They tend to have a very short wheelbase, and they have a fifth wheel along with a lifting mechanism that helps to put the trailers onto and off of the vehicle. Another one of the differences is that these vehicles tend to top out at a speed of around 25 mph.
