Considerations when renting a drill slip

When you are leasing or renting drill slips, you have a range of things to consider. You need to make sure that you are choosing a quality option from a good manufacturer, and you need to make sure you are getting the right size and that it has all the equipment you need. Depending on the size of your operation, you will also need to consider whether you need to get more than one of these drill slips. Once you have the drill slip and other equipment, make sure only those who are properly trained are using it.

How drill slips work

Once the workers have placed the drill slips around the pipe, it will be lowered until the teeth can get a good grip on the pipe, and then the drill slips are pulled down to keep everything in place. After the work has been completed, the workers will raise the drill string. This will unlock the grip of the drill slips, which can then be moved away. It’s relatively simple, but these slips are essential in drilling operations.

About drill slips

A drill slip is a device that is commonly used on oil rigs. The purpose of the slip is to grab and hold the top part of a drill sling to the rig’s drill flooring. They are circular in shape and they are made from wedges of metal that are hinged together to go around the drill pipe. Inside of the slip, there are usually teeth made from steel, which is what grips onto the pipe. The outside of the slips will be tapered so they will work properly with the design of the drill floor.

Drill Slip Manufacturers

You can find a range of manufacturers who are making drill slips today. Some of the popular manufacturers that are making these slips include Century Distribution Systems, Inc., Ensco, and China Petroleum Technology.
